PTI Blog Hop

Goodness I hope this works.  Tonight is my very first blog hop so I hope I did this right.  We're suppose to use tissue paper in our creation which I recycled from a department store and a birthday gift.  All other supplies I'll list below.  So here's my blog hop card:

Supplies:

Stamps:  PTI:  Year in Flowers - Violets, Autumn Abundance
Paper:  Except for tissue, all PTI:  Terracotta Tile, Enchanted Evening and Spring Moss
Inks:  PTI:  Hawaiian Shores, Enchanted Evening, New Leaf
Dies:  Beautiful Blossoms II No. 1
Brad:  Vanilla brad, company?

I used tissue paper in my blossom accent as well as the striped layer.  I don't know if you can make out the detail - due to my sad, sad attempt at photography - but I pleated the striped tissue horizontally and I think its my favourite part of the card.  I didn't get the whole tissue paper flower thing until I tried it and I LOVE it.  So simple, so fast, so gratifying and an excellent way to use all my new PTI flower dies...got to love that the most.

Well, thanks for stopping by.  I'm off to check out everyone else's blogs and get inspired.

Catching Up

Hey You!  Yeah, you there!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit.  I really appreciate it....lurkers too...cough....Laura.  Hugs to you too if you've left a little love in the comments section.  I really have no idea where the time has gone.  One day it was the end of March and now its the end of April.  How did THAT happen?

Lots going on craft and life related.  Getting on the bicycle (which I call the bug) a lot more since I started blogging.  Biked/commuted to work last week once and twice this week.  Sky is the limit - weather cooperating.  Everyone knows my line about being made of sugar and melting but apparently sugar and sh*t both melt the same (thanks, Carrie =P) Running some errands on the bug too.  Must be doing something right because I had to buy a belt last weekend to prevent further episodes of accidental pantsing (in case you didn't know, that's when someone pulls your pants down).  I know, I know, yes, I'm 8 years old and my life is a school yard.  I also have a brand new PTI pen pal and she's AWESOME.  She's already sent me two cards - which I have permission to post - just have to upload the pictures.  I also joined a PTI blogging group and I'm proud to report that I'm a Papertrey Pixie.  I'm spastic about tech stuff so will try very hard to put up a blinkie with a link to our Pixie blog...if you want to visit.  Lovely group of ladies from all over....the world.

I'll be back later today as tonight is the PTI Blog Hop and I'm participating for the first time.

New Card and New Craft Room

Hey Stampers!

Wow it has been a while since I posted.  Lots happened since my last post.  I'm another year older and I moved next door to a bigger and brighter space.  I also made a card but I couldn't share it with you until I was sure the birthday person had received it.  So here it is:

The background was made by running a piece of core paper in an embossing folder through my Big Kick with a thin oval wooden frame as part of the sammich and then sand papering the embossed surface until the core showed through.  The center image was colored with dye based markers and a water pen.

Over the weekend I moved down the hall to the 2nd spare bedroom.  Still need to put up some shelves and some rails for my punches but I L-O-V-E my new space.  Its much bigger and brighter than my old cave.  Here are some pictures:

I'll probably move a few things around but I think I like the basic configuration.  I can't believe how much light there is.  Can you believe these pictures were taken later in the day and the blinds aren't even totally open?  Still working on unmounting my wood mount stamps.  I only have about four or five stacks of stamps left.

Be back soon with my club swaps and demo samples.

Stomp on!

PTI Order

As promised, my PTI order.  Two packages of card stock in New Leaf and Hawaiian Shores.  One pack of the new design paper, Green Boutique.  Six, holy cow, stamp sets and some with matching die sets. Ric rack die.  Three double sided impression plates.  Four spools of ribbon in Hawaiian Shores and Berry Sorbet. Two rolls of wool felt in Dark Chocolate and Hawaiian Shores.  And last but not least, two ink cubes in Hawaiian Shores and New Leaf

Well, that was the March 2010 release from PTI.  Unsurprisingly my wish list for PTI is short.  So maybe this month will be the month I clear it out....seeing as its my birthday soon.  If I actually believed that excuse then I've bought myself birthday presents well into my 70's and this is of course a very conservative estimate.

Well, thanks for stopping by.  Happy Easter!

Practice, practice, practic....colouring

Don't know if I posted this already but I noticed that some of my older unmounted cling film stamps were slowly melting onto their acrylic storage sheets.  I was very distressed by this, honestly.  This of course led me to re-vamp my storage system.  Long story short:  Two craft cubes from Michaels, 100+ empty cd cases and my stash of EZ mount have been called into action.  Its kind of an interesting process as I actually get to lay hands on some stamps that I haven't used in a while....gasp!  I'm quite proud to say that I still love all the stamps I have except for one that puzzles me completely but now I don't want to get rid of it because to do so would be, in an odd way, to admit defeat.  Once the process is completely over and done with I will post a picture.

So, in the midst of all this organizing, I filled my new color cubbies with markers, etc. and started practicing my watercolor technique with dye based markers and a waterbrush.  Here are some pictures I took.  I started out with peel off stickers but then progressed to embossing images in black EP on watercolor paper.  I like how it looks.

The flower on the left is a peel-off sticker and marker water colouring but with Sakura gel pens and a water brush.  The flowers on the right are black embossed and coloured with Memento markers and a water brush.  I've been on the hunt for some really nice watercolour paper and I think I found it.  Sadly it only comes on ginormous rolls but was actually quite inexpensive...a few dollars for a table size sheet.  I found it at a local art supply store a few blocks from my office.

The other side of the top image.  Again the image on the left was a peel off and the image on the right is a stamped and embossed image.  When I was getting into the groove of practicing, I started to think, "I'm going to run out of peel offs!"  But then my inside voice told me, "stupid, you have, like, a bunch of stamps.  Just stamp and emboss, idiot!"  Really my inside voice is usually quite supportive but this time she was directive...no comments from the peanut gallery! =P

I love colouring but sometimes I pick really odd colour combinations that are just....off.  So part of my practice is to work on my realistic colour combos...that's why I've made swatches next to the image so I know what works and what doesn't.

Well, I was going to post my PTI order but I think I'll wait on doing this since I seem to have run on about water colouring.  Hey, look, no glitter!

I'll be back later on this weekend with some PTI goodness...

Stamp on my friends, stamp on...
