Reboot - Day 12

I had to count on my fingers how many days I've been on the Reboot....12!  18 more to go and quickly approaching the half-way mark.  What have I learned?  You cn pretty much juice anything and it'll taste good.  Swiss chard makes everything brown.  Beets make EVERYTHING red.  There has to be a craft usage somewhere for beets.  Green apples, lemons and ginger make everything taste WAY better.  I've had a lot of words of encouragement and support, lots of questions and blank stares and a lot of "I don't know how you do it".  I guess I do have will power but it was buried underneath a pile of ice cream and chips.   I had to bring all my juice with me when I worked the Provincial election and I have a wedding banquet to observe tomorrow - that should be interesting.  So the stats:

12 days done, 18 to go
Juices consumed:  approximately 50 - in ounces that's about 800 ounces or approx. 25 liters.
Total spent on Reboot including new juicer and fruits and vegs so far:  $310.00
Weight loss:  15lbs

My juicer cost me 150.00 from  I figured at $5/day by the end of the 30 days it will have paid for itself.

So that's me on day 12.  Thanks for sticking with me if you've been reading along.

Juice on.

Reboot Day 3

Morning!  Getting better at maximizing my use of the juicer so I'm cleaning my juicer only twice a day.  I've been able to double or triple up my quantities in one juicing which should be helpful when I go back to work tomorrow.   Should be interesting.  I'm pretty sure my first three days have been relatively easy going since I've been off work and the days have been beautiful.

Observation:  there are A LOT of food commercials and A LOT Of eating on episodic television.  Obviously, my viewing of the Food Network has taken a nose dive.

I tried to resist the urge to step on a scale until at least the one week mark but I have no impulse control (obviously) so I did it last night.  Down 5 pounds.  Wow!

I can honestly say I'm not hungry although my stomach does make an array of different sounds I've never heard before.   I'm drinking about four to five juices a day and my stomach does growl when I go too long before juices.

Well, that's that.  Day three, 27 more to go.

Reboot Day 1

Morning!  So today is day one of my 30 day reboot.  I was inspired by the documentary "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" and thought I'd give juice fasting a try.  I've done fasting before with the Master Cleanse (water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne).  In comparison, the Reboot is much more lenient.  There's no eating but I can juice fruits and vegetables as well as drink water, herbal tea and coconut water.  So far so good...well...I'm only two juices in...but still so far so good.   I'm waiting for the inevitable detox from caffeine, i.e. really bad headaches but I'm hoping it won't be so bad.  There's a lot of prep and a lot of cleaning but I'm hoping to get better at maximizing my use of the juicer and minimizing the amount of time I spend washing.  I know it's best to juice and drink immedidately but I think it may be unrealistic.  I thankfully have today and the next two days to get my juice groove on and find a happy middle road since I'm back to work on Thursdays.

Juice combos tried far:

Green Machine:  kale, cucumber, celery, apple, pear and ginger.

How Many Carrots is too Many Carrots? (that's the best I could do for a witty title):  Carrots, beets, parsley, spinach and yellow pepper.

I doubled up on quantity on the carrots so I have a nice serving of juice chilling in the fridge for my mid-afternoon juice.

Observations:  I can feel the beginnings of a caffeine detox headache starting.  I'm hoping my one cup of tea/coffee habit won't be so bad of a detox compared to the time I kicked caffeine cold-turkey and I was drinking about three to four a day.  I'm surprisingly thirsty.  I know I'm supposed to continue to intake the same amounts of fluid that I usually take in but I'm actually feeling the need to drink water.  I feel sleepy (could have been the heat last night and not an entirely restful night's sleep) and am yawning quite a bit but I'm also feeling quite mentally alert.  I'm not hungry and I don't feel 'empty'.  The closest I've come to hungry was around mid-morning today but I figure it was because my body had used up all the juice and wanted more.  I'm trying not to over share but I'm awfully....burpy.  I'll say no more on that front.

So far, so good, I guess.  I'm going outside to take in some rays and start painting the railings on the front steps.  Should be a fairly low-impact way to spend my time in between juices.  I'm painting white on white so  I don't think there will be any harm if I decide to stop half way and take a rest or have a juice.

Thanks for checking in with me today.  Here's a picture of my 'breakfast'.

Day 1, 29 days to go.
Juices 2, 118 juices to go.

FFC07 - Challenge - Birds

What?  My last post was at the end of March?  Wow.  Anyways, I'm back and playing along with the Festive Friday Challenge again.  The theme this time is birds.

Supplies:  C/S:  PTI.  Memory Box Dies - Resting Birds.  Stamps:  PTI:  Out on a Limb and Inside Out: Holidays.  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Brocade Blue, Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze.

I was inspired by the layout I saw here.  If you've never been to this blog before, please visit.  I find a lot of inspiration there.  This card came together pretty quickly.  The most time consuming part was masking the rectangle using post-it notes.  The rest was direct to paper ink dabbing, die cutting  and stamping.  Easy-peasy, as they say.

Anyways, on a quick personal note:  I'll be hijacking my blog a bit starting Monday as I'll be commencing a 30 day juice Reboot.  Have you heard of it?  If not, Google Joe's Reboot.  I'm hoping to reboot my system and start living a slightly more pro-actively healthier lifestyle.  Anyways, a craft plus will hopefully be the fact that since I'm not prepping and cooking meals and cleaning up after, I'll have more time for crafting...hopefully.  I've done juice fasting before but this time I'm going for 30 days.  Your positive thoughts would be appreciated.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by.  It is a breathtakingly lovely day here in Vancouver.  I'm going to go out and enjoy it.  Spring has finally decided to show up.
