What I did on my summer holidays....

I looked at my last post and couldn't believe my eyes:  June 29th?!?!  Where did the summer go?  It feels like it never got started and now its over.  To be honest, I don't believe I ever had to write a "what I did on my summer holidays" type essay when I was in school.  Besides, how do you write 2000 words on "I slept in, watched TV and ate a bunch of junk food?"

Well, here's what I did craft-wise.  Made a bunch of cards because a bunch of people did stuff in my life.  I'm happy to report I did use a lot of new stamps.  I don't know how it happens but these new stamps keep showing up at my house on an almost monthly basis.

The first two pictures are the front and inside of the birthday card for nephew #4 who is 17 this year.  More MFT dogs.

Another dog themed birthday card.  This time for my cousin.  I love this little nacho dog - I believe he's a stamping bella creation.  My cousin is a smoker and I thought I'd be able to draw a little cigarette hanging from his mouth but I didn't have that brilliant idea until after I had finished colouring him.  There's always next year....

Don't you just love my posh photo set ups?!?  Either my desk, my fingers or whatever flat snack food package is sitting around.  Yes, those are oreo thins - chocolate flavoured to be exact.  Those things are GREAT.  They also come in mint, lemon and original.  So. Good.  But I digress.

This last card was for nephew no. 1 who is a full-grown adult.  I thought the front was mature and whimsical but I really wanted to use my new faeries from the Greeting Farm so I used them 'covertly' on the inside.  Sadly there wasn't enough room for a flying unicorn, too.  I don't know if you can tell but the 'happy birthday' is stamped and heat embossed.  No matter how long I've been making cards heat embossing is the great equalizer.  I had to do the front three times before the embossing looked okay.  I know this last one isn't perfect but it was the best one.  It took me longer to heat emboss two words than it did to colour all three faeries on the inside!

Well, that was my craft summer.  I'm pre-contemplative about all things Fall.  Don't even get me started about Christmas.

More MFT goodness

Basically the same layout as my previous post but a much larger format - 8.5 x 5.5 inches folded.   I cut a regular piece of cardstock in half and stuck the pieces together with washi tape I bought during my last trip to NYC.

Goodbye card for my work BFF.  I had to make it large enough for everyone to sign.  All animal stamps MFT. Brush stroke stamps Concord and 9th.  I was inspired by a card Sandy Allnock did but she cut masks for all the animals she was using and stamped them all into probably the cutest animal border, ever.  I love my work BFF but not that much.  I figured die cutting and colouring was just the right amount of effort (yes, I'm that lazy).  Plus, I really love the window and wanted the animals peeking through from the 'front'.

The front.  Grass was again done with flicking a grouping of 3 G Copic markers using the negative of a MFT grass die.  Hey, I find something I like that works and I run it into the ground.

The inside.  Self critique:  Getting kind of tired but the time I got to the poodle so I just did pointillism inspired dots.  I think this last part is pretty funny. ..

Had to get a piggy in there somewhere.  Because of the what I thought was a weird, non-standard size I wasn't going to do an envelope but I looked at my WRM envelope punch board and there were measurements for an 8.5 x 5.5. board.  Go figure?!?  I made an envelope and affixed the rest of the uncoloured die cuts to the front.  Of course I didn't take a picture....

Trying not to make empty promises but there may be another post or two in the future....just sayin'.

Thanks for schtomping by.

New stamps - Hog Heaven

Did I ever mention that I have a thing for pigs?  Well I do.  When I saw this set I knew it would be mine...and the matching dies, too (of course).

I'm usually pretty happy with all my cards but this one just made me happy and smile broadly.  Wouldn't you agree?
This is the front.  Look at that little tushie!

And this is the inside.  So cute.  Hello, mama elephant pandas....

It's not really finished but I don't know what else to add.  I guess this little gem will sit in my stash box until I have a reason...or feel someone is worthy to receive it.  Conceded much?!?  LOL.

Not For Its Intended Use

Long time no post, right?!?

Love, love, love all these new brush letters stamp sets.  Okay, there are three that I'm aware of and I own all three.  I've had a few people ask me if I've taken up calligraphy.  Totally. Not.  Did I ever mention I love cursing?  Well, I do love to curse.

I made this card for friends who are going through some stuff.  If you can't ease a person's burden, you can at least make them smile and forget their troubles for a little while, right?  Mission accomplished.

Stamps and die cuts used:  Mama Elephant

This second card was actually my first attempt with the lettering stamps.  I gave it to a coworker who was having a bad day.  She got a real kick out of the sentiment.
All stamps: Concord and 9th.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by.  I won't make any half-assed promises to be better at posting.
